I am starting a new series of portraits which started with one I did of myself, just for fun. I set up lights and positioned myself using the aid of a mirror. This allowes me to see how the light hits my face so I can adjust if needed. Once the lights are in place I set up the camera and do a few test shots of just the area I will be standing. Then I set the self timer and hop into place. I ened up taking about 30 shots. With every 2 or 3 shots I would alter the position of my head and shoulders just a bit. I'd smile a little more or less, raise an eyebrow, look up or down, etc. With 30 various shots of the same subject I knew I would have at least 5 great shots to work from. And I did!
I took some artistic liberties of course, adding whimsical hair and snail, trail and all, when painting.
It was done in soft pastel on Sennelier paper and I think the result is perfect.
More to come!
