Cap 3000 shopping center in Nice, France hosted the countries debut Le Craies d'Azur Street Painting Festival. The event was a great success and Cap 3000, who sponsored my painting, has embraced the artform with bigger and better support for next year. The event included street paintings from 2 professionals- Joel Yau and myself from the U.S., several local artists, students, and a children's section.
Bringing in professional street painters is always a great asset to a new festival. It gives the event a few larger and more proficient paintings, experienced voices and spokespeople for the event, and an artists workshop. I held an artist's workshop for the local artists of the event the evening before. This gives participating artists, who in most cases have never street painted before, a quick 101 course on the artform. I give a presentation showing the work of myself and other professionals and then demo my techniques and styles. The artists have the opportunity to try it out for themselves before painting in front of an audience ;) It's always a lot of fun.
